Marvel is preparing to launch the first X-Men feature since Disney purchased Fox in 2019, and they have targeted Thunderbolts* filmmaker Jake Schreier for the project.
Though officials informed Variety that the agreement is still in the works, the franchise seriously contemplated hiring him following his smash film about anti-heroes.
The next X-Men picture will be written by Michael Lesslie, who previously worked on Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and produced by Kevin Feige.
There are little details regarding the film, and it is unclear when it will be released.
Aside from that, Disney CEO Bob Iger recognized that focusing on quantity rather than quality has an influence on the franchise.
"We've learned over time that quantity does not always result in quality," he added on the investor call.
"Frankly, we've all confessed to ourselves that we lost a little concentration by producing too much. We feel that combining and letting Marvel focus more on their films would result in higher quality. "I believe the first and best example of that is 'Thunderbolts*'," Bob stated.
