Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dated for more than a year before becoming engaged.
However, the Duke of Sussex's memoir Spare answers the topic of how he proposed to his current wife.
The prince remembered a 'wonderful' night on November 4, 2017, when he shocked his fiancée by proposing at Kensington Palace.
The 40-year-old stated that the Suits actress was preparing dinner—a roast chicken. "I wanted it to look like Botswana, where I'd first thought of proposing," he told me.
According to the Daily Mail, Botswana became significant to the couple after Harry took Meghan there during their early relationship.
"Would you spend your life with me? Make me the happiest guy in the planet?" the father of two said, sitting on one knee.
However, before he finished and handed the two-and-a-half-carat ring, Meghan interrupted and said, "Can I say yes?" Could I say yes?
Harry's biography was not the only place where the couple recalled the 'beautiful' proposal. They also discussed it in the Netflix series Harry & Meghan.
"Of course, I got down on one knee," the royal prince said. His wife said, "We were overjoyed and excited."
Meghan and Harry married in 2018 in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.
