Prince Harry once mentioned the time he felt the most distant from his elder brother, Prince William.
The Duke of Sussex, who is now estranged from his brother following his dramatic departure from the UK in 2020, confessed he was terribly hurt when The Prince of Wales turned down his attempts to bond.
Harry opened his interview with Anderson Cooper on CBS' flagship program 60 Minutes by saying, "My brother and I adore each other. "I deeply love him."
"There has been a lot of grief between the two of us, particularly during the last six years. Umm... None of anything I've written or included was ever meant to damage my family."
"But it does give a full picture of the situation as we were growing up, and also squashes this idea that somehow my wife was the one that destroyed the relationship between these two brothers."
Cooper then questioned Harry, "Even though you attended the same high school, your brother told you, 'Pretend we don't know each other.'"
Harry responded, "Yeah, and it hurt at the time." I was unable to make sense of it. I was like, "What do you mean?" We currently attend the same school.
"Like, 'I haven't seen you in ages, and now we can hang out.' He says, 'No, no, no, we don't know each other when we're at school. And I took it personally.
"But, yes, you're absolutely correct; you hit the nail on the head." We experienced a very similar horrific event, but we coped with it in two very different ways."
