Samsung's tri-fold phone is said to have a silicon-carbon battery and might share features with the Galaxy Z Fold 7

 

Samsung is preparing to launch its first tri-fold phone, potentially dubbed the Samsung G Fold. The South Korean firm announced the multi-fold phone during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in January of this year, and it is scheduled to be released with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July. While we wait for the formal announcement, a fresh leak has surfaced online, revealing that Samsung may employ the most advanced battery technology for the tri-fold phone. It is also believed to have some similarities with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

PandaFlashPro, an X user, stated that Samsung's foldable phone will use a silicon-carbon battery. The brand was recently rumored to employ a similar type of battery in Galaxy S26 phones.

Silicon-carbon batteries provide advantages over standard lithium-ion cells, chiefly by substituting the graphite anode with a silicon one. This adjustment increases energy density and allows for greater power storage in the same physical space. Honor was one of the first to display this technology with the Magic 5 Pro in 2023, but since then, numerous firms have introduced phones with silicon-carbon batteries.

In response to a comment on the page, PandaFlash stated that the battery capacity of the tri-fold phone will be "under 5,000mAh." This suggests that the handset may be thin.

Samsung's Tri-Fold Phone Could Take Some Features From Galaxy Z Fold 7

In a second article, the tipster claims that the Samsung tri-fold smartphone would share speaker drivers and design cuts with the unreleased Galaxy Z Fold 7, as well as a comparable hinge mechanism. It's reported to have a flat body like the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The tri-fold smartphone is said to be capable of capturing 8K films at 30fps.

Samsung's rumored Galaxy G Fold is expected to be unveiled at the summer Galaxy Unpacked event, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. It is expected to fold inwards and include a 9.96-inch display. When folded, it may provide a display area of 6.54 inches.

During the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in January, Jay Kim, Samsung's Head of Products and Experiences Office, provided a quick glimpse at the tri-folding phone. The phone's availability will most likely be confined to South Korea and China.
