Suits LA was canceled after only one season, and an executive revealed why the program was not renewed for a second season.
When the original program Suits was made accessible on Netflix, it saw a remarkable resurrection and achieved such high watching statistics that the makers believed a spin-off would be well received by fans. However, the spin-off's first season drew just 2.35 million viewers, far fewer than the original, and received a 39% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Suits LA centers on Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who now runs a practice specializing in criminal and entertainment law. Patton Oswalt, Brian Baumgartner, and Enrico Colantoni made guest appearances, as did Gabriel Macht, an original cast member.
When asked why the cancelation occurred, NBCUniversal's President of Program Planning Strategy, Jeff Bader, stated that "it's so hard to talk about shows and which ones we're bringing back."
According to Deadline, he elaborated: "Suits: LA had a very short run, but it really has not resonated [with audiences in] the way we thought it would."
"There could be a variety of reasons why it hasn't resonated, but it simply does not appear to have the potential to grow for us in the future." "Those are the decisions we had to make," he stated.
"And we had to make some hard decisions," he said of Suits LA.
