DC CEO James Gun, who will direct the upcoming Superman picture, has revealed who he had in mind for the title role besides David Corenswet.
The 58-year-old filmmaker was certain that he would not create the picture until he had found the right actor to portray it.
James was looking for someone who could carry the "complex mix of drama, comedy, and action," and the 31-year-old actor met all of his criteria.
He told GQ, "The easy part is that he resembles Superman." But the idea that David is a theater student who is so athletic is even stranger."
However, the filmmaker had a backup plan in case David declined to portray the role.
Gunn remembered Chris Pratt as the second name that sprang to mind.
He clarified: "I don't know if anybody I've worked with before would've been able to do this stuff, besides maybe Chris Pratt."
"I stated from the start, 'If I don't find Superman, I'm not going to do this movie.'" Because I knew it depended on the guy portraying Superman.
The 2025 action science fiction film will be released in theaters on July 11.
