Given the circumstances of the last two weeks, Prince William has admirably demonstrated the sort of authority he has in King Charles's reign.
When the Prince of Wales stood up and encouraged his father to be more stern with the embattled royal Prince Andrew, the king complied, causing a significant uproar in the royal family.
In a statement released by Buckingham Palace last week, Andrew said that he would no longer use his royal titles since the accusations against him were interfering with the royal family's job. William was expecting for a far more tangible move, but this appeared to be only a sneak peek at the improvements he had in mind.
According to insiders, Andrew's children Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie's titles are also under jeopardy. Additionally, there were plans to deprive Harry and his family of their Sussex titles, including his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie, age six, and Princess Lilibet, age four.
However, the King has urged his son to give his estranged brother another shot at reconciliation and to stop the attack on royal titles. According to insiders, Charles and Kate Middleton, his daughter-in-law, have been persuading William to make amends over Christmas.
The insiders pointed out that although Charles's encounter with Harry at Clarence House last month may have sparked the change of heart, it comes with a number of conditions.
They told RadarOnline, "William is open to meeting Harry, but only if everything goes exactly as he wants it to." "There will be no Meghan, no aides, and no possibility that it will be used as material for a book or documentary."
There is little trust between the two brothers, who were formerly quite close, and the future king is "deeply wary of being secretly recorded or having his words twisted."
Only if the gathering is conducted "behind closed doors, under lock and key" would the reunion be possible.
Whether anything can truly happen in the weeks before the yearly royal family vacation is still up in the air.
