MediaTek's Dimensity 8500 chip, which is purportedly being tested by the company, is likely to be released shortly as the successor to the Dimensity 8400 processor. The Dimensity 8500 chipset might power an unknown Honor smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery, as well as the alleged Xiaomi 17T. Now, a tip has disclosed information about its architecture, node size, peak clock speed, and other parameters. It is intended to be quicker and more efficient than its predecessor, which powers mid-range devices like as the Vivo Y300 GT.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500 might be built using TSMC's 4nm process
In a post on a Chinese microblogging site, tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) revealed information on the speculated MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor. The SoC is believed to be built with TSMC's 4nm manufacturing technology. It is expected to use an octa-core CPU with Cortex-A725 cores. A prototype of the chip, which is now being tested, allegedly achieved a peak clock speed of 3.4GHz.The MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset might be combined with an upgraded Mali-G720 GPU clocked at 1.5GHz. Furthermore, the tipster has released its benchmark ratings, which hint at what it may offer in terms of performance. The chip is believed to have received over 2.2 million points on AnTuTu. The Dimensity 8500 processor is expected to exceed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 in terms of GPU performance. This MediaTek SoC is expected to power the next generation of mid-range smartphones.
It was reported earlier this month that the alleged Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, code-named "warhol" and "chagall," would be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9500 and 8400 chipsets, respectively. It is anticipated that the two phones would go on sale in February 2026. Additionally, it is anticipated that an Honor phone with a 10,000mAh battery and the same chipset will be released under the name Honor Power 2.
However, MediaTek has not verified the release of the rumored Dimensity 8000-series processor. In September, the company introduced their flagship 3nm octa-core Dimensity 9500 SoC, which has a peak clock speed of 4.21GHz. Additionally, it supports UFS 4.1 storage. The SoC is found in the latest flagship smartphones, including the Vivo X300 series and the Oppo X9 family.
