Prince Andrew has turned the title of Duke of York, which is customarily bestowed to the second son of a king, into a "toxic" one, according to royal experts.
Following severe accusations connected to Jeffrey Epstein, King Charles' brother surprised the world last week by declaring that he was giving up all of his royal titles and honors.
It would be "too soon" to transfer the title to another member of the Royal Family, according to a royal analyst who has now offered their opinion on the matter.
For background, King Edward IV instituted the custom in 1497 of associating the Dukedom of York with the sovereign's second son.
Prior to taking the throne, Prince George VI, the father of Queen Elizabeth, also had the title.
In 1986, Prince Andrew, the late Queen's second son, was also given the title.
However, given the controversy surrounding its present possessor, this tradition could now be placed on pause.
"Some titles are unjustly associated with their holders," Mr. Fitzwilliams told GB News.
"Duke of York raises alarms worldwide in an era where information is readily available at all times," he continued.
Therefore, it could be 'too soon' for Prince Louis to eventually take on the title, Fitzwilliams stated.
"There probably won't be another Duke of York," Mr. Fitzwilliams said in an interview with the People's Channel.
"That Newsnight will still be used by the media in fifty years," he said.
His remarks coincide with fresh rumors that Prince Andrew has only been sometimes paying his water bills at Royal Lodge, as pressure mounts for him to leave the property.
