Stranger Things' second season on Netflix may not arrive until 2025.
Finn Wolfhard, who portrays Mike Wheeler on the programme, revealed when the next season would air.
Wolfhard predicted in an interview with GQ that he will be 22 years old when the final season airs.
"By the time it comes out, I will be 22, I guess. And I began working on the programme when I was 12 years old. "That's absurd," the actor said.
Wolfhard is just 20 years old, implying that the series will not be released until 2025.
"I'll be able to experience Stranger Things 5 alongside [co-stars Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp] and the entire cast, which couldn't have been said during the season one premiere, which blows my mind," he continued.
The fourth season of the show aired between May and July 2022. There is currently no release date for the fifth and final season of episodes, but production is likely to begin within the next several months.
In terms of what he hopes to do after Stranger Things, Wolfhard stated that he is not concerned about stardom when his time on the show ends. "I'm not interested in becoming relevant at all, ever. "I'm just concerned with the people around me and the things that I perform on a daily basis," he explained.
He also expressed concern for his classmates, who, at this peculiar juncture, show a wish to be active. "When things feel incredibly overwhelming and large, it might feel much bigger to young actors who simply want it all to go away in an instant."
While much remains unclear about Stranger Things' upcoming final season, the show's creators have offered viewers a few suggestions as to what to anticipate. The series' creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have previously indicated that the upcoming season will stray from a repeating series pattern.
They also disclosed that the series' conclusion was initially planned for season two.
