In the 65th edition of the Grammy Awards, Harry Styles won Album of the Year for Harry's House, defeating Adele, Beyonce, and Lizzo.
Many social media users were perplexed by the As It Was singer's significant triumph, which included nominations for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year.
Following Styles' long-standing relationship with Grammys producer Ben Winston, some music lovers have accused the Grammys of being rigged.
Styles has an excellent connection with Grammy producer Winston, according to the Daily Mail. Following the Watermelon Sugar singer's performance of As It Was, Grammy's Twitter handle stated, "'Fun fact: the voice at the beginning of "As It Was" is the daughter of our very own #GRAMMYs producer, @BenWinston!."
The post was referring to Winston's five-year-old daughter, Ruby, who also made a cameo appearance at the opening of the song, stating, "Come on, Harry, we want to say goodbye to you!"
Winston was also the producer of Hulu's The Kardashians and Apple TV's Carpool Karaoke. He directed and executive produced the recent Friends: The Reunion programme.
Fans reacted fast to this new information, commenting, "He shouldn't have been nominated for this reason alone."
"So that's how he earned the grammy," one observed, while another quipped, "I guess we already know who's getting AOTY."
One person described the awards event as "rigged," while another said, "That nepotism is insane." "Harry styles being friends with ben winston who controls the grammys and irving azoff who operates ticketmasters/livenation and more indicates why he won," another said.
