Arielle Free, a BBC Radio 1 DJ, was yanked off the air following a violent altercation with a colleague about music selection during a live broadcast in Ibiza.
On Sunday (July 30), Free made a brief cameo on Charlie Hedges' Dance Anthems Ibiza broadcast but was cut off for claiming she didn't like a song he was playing.
"Can I be honest with you Charlie?" she asked Hedges, who was listening to 'My Barn, My Rules' by Stream MCR-T and horsegiirL. I anticipated more from you. This song does not appeal to me..."I despise it."
Hedges pulled her mic down as she continued to dispute the song's lyrics. She was only on the air for about a minute.
"Sorry, I'm taking your mic down," Hedges said. "It's my show, Arielle; please show some respect."
According to reports, Free will be off the air for the rest of the week as the event is investigated.
"Whilst we would not comment on individual matters, we have strict codes of conduct for staff and presenters, and any breaches are taken extremely seriously," BBC Radio 1 stated in a statement.
Since 2019, Free has been one of the station's primary dance DJs. She has also co-hosted Love Island: The Morning After, the official Love Island podcast.
