Halle Berry has spoken about her departure from Ryan Murphy's highly anticipated legal thriller All's Fair, which also stars Kim Kardashian and Glenn Close.
On August 12, at the Los Angeles premiere of her new Netflix film The Union, Berry discussed the unexpected turn of events.
"Sometimes, projects don't pan out the way you expect—and that's okay," Berry, 57, told Entertainment Tonight.
Reflecting on her departure, she said, "You know, everything happens for a reason. I would have liked to have been there with those ladies, and I know it will be fantastic. It's Ryan Murphy, duh. "But next time!"
Berry was previously supposed to act in and produce All's Fair, a Hulu series about an all-female law office.
However, due to schedule issues, she withdrew from the movie, as Variety reported in July.
The actress plays Roxanne, Wahlberg's character Mike's high school love who reappears in his life 25 years later and offers him a high-stakes job.
At the premiere of The Union, she commended Wahlberg for his sincere and collaborative approach.
"He means what he says and says what he means," Berry said to PEOPLE exclusively.
"He's a friend to an actor and a great collaborator who allowed me the space to be me and bring what I needed to the role."
