Jason Statham may be accustomed to high-speed chases and adrenaline-pumping exploits on TV, but his frequent helicopter visits have sparked real-life drama in a wealthy district of South London.
The action actor, 57, and his fiancée, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 38, have been spotted helicoptering into a local playing field, much to the dismay of adjacent homeowners and, supposedly, a few scared horses.
A 35-year-old local mother who observed a landing last Friday reported that the helicopter swooped low over a nearby riding area, generating quite a disturbance.
"The helicopter flew quite low over a riding ground and spooked two horses which were out at the time," she informed me.
"After landing, the pilot ran across the field to apologize." He appeared to be remorseful and concerned about everyone's well-being. However, if a horse bolts while carrying a six-year-old, the outcome will be disastrous. Jason could have to save the day—again."
Statham, whose career includes Crank, Snatch, The Transporter, and the Fast and Furious franchise, was observed landing in the same location with Rosie again the next day.
This time, the pilot apparently sought to avoid flying over the riding school, which might indicate that someone got the memo.
Nonetheless, the landings have not been well received by the residents.
One homeowner expressed her dissatisfaction: "It's been pretty common. It flies low over our houses and is really noisy. This is not something we appreciate. I won't be happy if it becomes a recurring event. There's a reason we selected to live distant from Heathrow and City airports."
A local company owner shared the opinion, stating, "It's not great, especially with people working from home and the elderly living here."
And if that wasn't enough, a father of two whose house backs up to the field also joined in, merely calling the helicopter "very noisy."
Jason and Rosie, who have two children, returned to the UK five years ago after spending a decade in Beverly Hills.
The couple allegedly spent £15 million for three London residences; but, if the helicopter continues to make surprise landings, they may need to pay for a few neighborly gift baskets as well.
