According to a statement, Britain's King Charles wrote confidentially to Joe Biden after learning of the former US president's cancer diagnosis.
King Charles was also diagnosed with an undisclosed kind of cancer last year, and the monarch is still receiving treatment.
Buckingham Palace disclosed the monarch's cancer diagnosis in February 2024, following his treatment for benign prostatic enlargement.
In July 2023, then-President Biden met with King Charles at Windsor Castle to discuss the strong US-UK partnership, as well as climate change measures.
Biden also attended the burial of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022 at the age of 96, demonstrating his admiration for the British monarchy.
The former president's administration said Sunday that he has been diagnosed with a "aggressive form" of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
According to the statement, the 82-year-old former president was diagnosed on Friday after having urinary symptoms, and he and his family are currently discussing treatment options with experts.
"Cancer strikes everyone. Jill and I, like so many of you, have discovered that we are most powerful at our darkest moments. "Thank you for lifting us up with love and support," Biden wrote in an X post early Monday.
Cancers that have spread or metastasized are classified as Stage 4, which is the most advanced. Most prostate cancers are identified at an early stage.
"While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management," stated Biden's office on Sunday.
Biden's physical health and mental clarity were scrutinized during his 2021-2025 presidency. He unexpectedly stopped his reelection campaign in July, weeks after a sluggish performance in a debate against Republican Donald Trump sparked concern among his fellow Democrats.
