Gemini, Google's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, will now have a new capability. Gemini now supports connecting to GitHub projects and doing a variety of coding activities, as announced on Wednesday. These include creating and updating functions, explaining code, addressing questions about the codebase, troubleshooting code, and so on. Currently, the feature is exclusively available to the platform's premium members. Notably, the Mountain View-based tech behemoth revealed that Gemini would now be extended to more devices, including smartwatches, smart TVs, auto infotainment systems, and more.
Gemini Advanced may now access GitHub repositories
The new functionality was introduced via a post on X (previously Twitter) by the Gemini app's official handle. The original text read: "Gemini Advanced now connects with GitHub, making it a more powerful coding assistant." The new feature should be available to users of the most recent versions of the mobile app or online client. Notably, this function is only available to Gemini Advanced customers.

According to Google, this new functionality will enable Gemini to produce and edit code and functions, analyze and explain code, respond to questions, debug, and perform other tasks. In one case, Gemini was able to analyze the code and provide methods to improve its efficiency.
Earlier this week, the tech giant revealed that Gemini will be available on additional Android handsets. According to Google, Gemini will be integrated into smartwatches, smart TVs, in-car infotainment systems, headsets, and smart glasses in the coming months.
