Jackie Chan has just proven why he is an icon.
The 71-year-old actor, who is set to feature in the next film Karate Kid: Legends and is known for his action-packed roles in films, told Haute Living that he has no intentions to retire.
"Of course, I always perform my own stunts." It is who I am. That won't change till the day I retire, which is never!" he shouted, laughing.
Chan explained his degree of expertise, saying, "When you've done it for 64 years straight, there's no physical preparation anymore," adding, "everything is in your heart and soul; it's muscle memory."
He also mentioned how far action films have come in terms of technological advancement.
"In the old days, the only [choice we had] was to be there and jump; that's it," he recalls.
"Today, with computers, actors can do anything, but there's always a sense of reality that you feel is missing," says Chan.
The actress called the improvements "a double-edged sword," particularly because "on one hand, actors become more and more capable of doing impossible stunts with the help of technology, and yet, on the other hand, the concept of danger and limit gets blurred and the audience is numb [to it]."
"But I'm not encouraging anyone to risk their lives to perform stunts like I did; it's simply too dangerous," Jackie Chan ended with a word of caution.
