The One UI 8 Watch build was released earlier this week, and it continues to provide specifics about features that Samsung is developing but is presently keeping under wraps. According to one rumor, the Samsung may be aiming to add two new functions to the Galaxy Watch that are driven by artificial intelligence. Now Bar and Now Brief, which were debuted with One UI 7 on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, may find their way to the South Korean tech giant's smartwatches, providing users with a personalized briefing comprising a variety of facts and insights.
AI Features on the Samsung Galaxy Watch
In collaboration with AssembleDebug, Android Authority claims that evidence of the Now Bar functionality was uncovered during the APK takedown of the SecClockWorkSysUI system app version 4.0.57, which is part of the One UI 8 Watch software suite. Multiple code strings and references are alleged to have been discovered, implying that the functionality may be adapted to operate on the Samsung Galaxy Watch's interface, along with many customization possibilities.
Notably, Now Bar provides a lock screen rapid glimpse of information provided by the Galaxy AI package. It's a rectangular bar with many cards that appears toward the bottom of the phone's lock screen and can be scrolled vertically using a card deck-style animation.
It is said to work by gesture actions. A double pinch may activate the Now Bar functionality on the watch face, and users may be able to configure a secondary action to navigate through alerts or tiles when the Now Bar is empty. It is thought to work primarily as a widget, providing information without having to move away from the watch face.
According to the newspaper, the Samsung Galaxy Watch's Now Bar might display information such as contextual suggestions, map navigation, media controls, live sports scores, and how to utilize the function. Furthermore, it is expected to have the Now Brief feature, which is also driven by Galaxy AI. It offers a detailed overview of the user's device usage and daily activities. Weather predictions, energy scores, music and navigation recommendations, and other insights are among the features available to Now Brief users.
However, it is not restricted to the aforementioned alternatives. According to the source, Samsung might add many new categories to the Now Bar of the One UI 8 Watch, including health data and workout updates.
This leak confirms earlier allegations that the Galaxy Watch, as well as other WearOS-powered smartwatches, may benefit from Gemini activities. Meanwhile, the South Korean electronics behemoth may add an antioxidant feature to the Galaxy Watch 8 and possibly earlier versions.
