Following the success of the original Lilo & Stitch film, the directors are revealing details about the sequel.
During an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal on May 20, Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman hinted to the film's anticipated sequel.
He told the newspaper, "It feels like it's going to work very well, and it's the kind of property that lends itself to more."
This follows on the heels of the live action film's massive box office triumph after its debut on May 25, 2025.
Not only did the picture make $126 million during Memorial Day weekend, but it went on to gross about $183 million in the country.
In a message to Disney, director Dean Fleischer Camp outlined why paying respect to the 2002 picture was so important.
He explained, "We sought to adapt it in a way that paid loving regard to the original while not being a one-to-one literal translation.
"We were quite clear on the idea that animation and live action are two very distinct media. There are some things you can do effectively in live-action but not in animation, and vice versa.
Disney is now preparing for further live-action features, including Moana and The Aristocats.
