The live-action adaptation of the Lilo and Stitch film, directed by Dean Fleicsher Camp, has received widespread criticism from fans.
Some fans, who hurried to their local cinemas to see the new film on its debut weekend, were unhappy to discover that the original villain of the 2022 cartoon version 'Captain Gantu' was missing.
The disappearance of the original adversary sparked controversy on the internet, with many questioning the need to remove the figure.
According to Screen Rant, Camp has addressed the matter, stating that Gantu's removal was a purposeful decision caused by the medium shift.
He stated, "Gantu was one of those things that simply did not function well in live action. We thought about it for a while, but eventually we had to make a decision.
"And also, I do stand by the decision because I feel like a lot of the things that in trying to ground these characters more and tell a story with a little more emotional depth, especially between the sisters, I feel like you have to free up real estate to allow that breathing room to do those things" , Dean commented.
Fans were overcome with nostalgia when they learned that their favorite childhood family adventure film will be remade. However, the producers missed the essence, which raised many questions.
