Prince William and Prince Harry may not communicate, but the estranged siblings are united by a big subject that they both care deeply about.
Previously, the brothers worked together to honor the legacy of their late mother, Princess Diana. According to a source, the Princes of Wales came up with the notion of auctioning off Diana's iconic outfits to benefit the organizations she supported.
One of the largest sales in honor of the royal fashionista is now scheduled for June. It will contain over 200 classic artifacts.
Martin Nolan, executive director and co-founder of Julien's Auctions, told Hello! that William and Harry may participate in the event, either directly or indirectly.
"I would expect that they are tempted and expect that they do and expect they have representatives who buy on their behalf," he said to the media. "And that is understandable. "I would, too."
Martin noted that there are many memories related with the artifacts that would entice the brothers to make bids.
"You see the ski suit and the great photographs of them or the shoes that she wore when she went to the dinosaur exhibition at the Museum of Natural History here," he said. "You know, like all of those, they're memories for them, it's their mum, she's the most famous person in the world but of course they would love to own some of these and preserve them for their own memories."
A source earlier told Woman's Day that Harry "deeply regret[s]" auctioning 79 of his mother's dresses alongside his brother in 1997. The Duke of Sussex is on a "mission" to collect as much of Diana's items as possible, citing a "deep need to feel close to his mother."
It is doubtful whether the brothers will attend the ceremony in person, but it is probable that they will make a strong effort to finally have the treasured parts linked to their mother.
