Prince William has linked up with famed broadcaster Sir David Attenborough for a powerful talk ahead of the publication of Sir David's latest documentary, which delves deep into the glories and cautions of the oceans.
Kensington Palace published the debate, which was taped at London's Royal Festival Hall in early May, on social media this week to commemorate the documentary's approaching global debut on Sunday, which also happens to be World Oceans Day.
In the serious debate, the Prince of Wales and the 99-year-old naturalist reminisced on Sir David's decades-long voyage discovering Earth's marine life, discussing the beauty of the oceans, the problems they face, and the critical need to safeguard them for future generations.
The duo's talk is part of a larger campaign to raise awareness about marine conservation, a vital component of Prince William's Earthshot Prize's "Revive Our Oceans" category.
Since the Earthshot Prize's inception in 2021, finalists in this category have demonstrated real-world effect.
Their initiatives have conserved and restored almost 20,000 square kilometers of critical marine habitat, saving, reducing, or recycling 2.5 million tons of water, demonstrating that focused innovation can generate substantial change.
To commemorate Sir David's 99th birthday, the Prince of Wales paid homage on social media, releasing a series of images from their last encounter, as well as a heartfelt flashback family portrait from 2020.
