When Prince William and Princess Kate became Prince and Princess of Wales, their positions in the Royal Family changed dramatically.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and the ascension of King Charles III, the pair assumed additional royal responsibilities as two of the monarchy's most senior working members.
Among the new rights of their titles is the ability to issue royal warrants, which are coveted endorsements granted to firms who offer products or services to the Royal Household.
William and Kate are scheduled to issue their first royal warrants in 2026. Ian Patrick, the Princess of Wales' Private Secretary, commented, 'Their Royal Highness are thrilled to be able to acknowledge and celebrate British business, innovation, and abilities through the issue of Warrants.'
Notably, Kate will be the first Princess of Wales to issue royal warrants since Princess Mary of Teck in 1910, making her endorsement as valuable as her husband's, according to The Mirror.
These royal warrants have enormous marketing value, and are frequently used as a potent promotional tool for the awarded firms. The application procedure will commence this week, with corporations that already have warrants from King Charles or Queen Camilla. The approved firms will be notified in early 2026.
Later, the pair will open applications to organizations that have never had royal warrants, in a lengthy procedure that is likely to take many months.
In May of last year, King Charles and Queen Camilla issued over 140 royal warrants, the majority of which went to firms that the King had previously supported as Princess of Wales. A second set of warrants was issued in December 2023, with 400 more approved.
