The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is slated to launch with One UI 8.5 in early 2026, and recent reports indicate a significant camera update is in the works. Samsung is apparently planning one of its most significant camera enhancements in years, with the introduction of look-up table (LUT) profiles to improve professional-grade mobile video recording on its devices. The feature is set to debut on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and it may also be accessible on select older smartphones via the One UI 8.5 upgrade. The functionality looks to be a clear attempt to challenge Apple's supremacy in the professional mobile videography market.
Samsung May Add LUTs to the Stock Video Editor
Tipster PhoneArt (@UniverseIce) reports on X (previously Twitter) that One UI 8.5, which is presently in testing, contains five built-in LUT styles that may add unique visual tones to Log video with a single tap. The tipster submitted a video clip using the settings for One UI 8.5 that shows how the styles are displayed.
One UI 8.5 is a new function with five LUT styles built in, which can restore different video styles to Log video with one click, but this function is under development now, and there is something wrong with the color. pic.twitter.com/tUhYUvH9nH

Each LUT makes specific cinematic color and brightness modifications to the film. The Standard and Blockbuster look to have high saturation tones, whilst the others have more realistic, cinematic tones. Processing durations vary according to video length, with shorter movies rendering faster. When a style is selected, the display in the viewfinder refreshes instantaneously for easy comparison before finalizing.
The feature may be added to other existing Galaxy models in the future via an update. This innovation has the potential to greatly improve Samsung's reputation in mobile videography, closing the gap with the iPhone 17 Pro by providing consumers with more extensive customizing choices.
Aside from the LUT profiles, One UI 8.5 is claimed to provide updated lock screen clock designs and softened backgrounds for lock screen alerts on Galaxy handsets. Samsung is rumored to be testing the One UI 8.5 update on foreign variations of the Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S25, and Galaxy Z Fold 7.
