Priority Notifications, a new AI-powered feature for Samsung Galaxy smartphones, will soon allow users to efficiently manage their notifications. It has been seen in a leaked software version and is anticipated to make its debut with the next One UI 8.5 upgrade. Important notifications are automatically recognized and highlighted at the top of the notification screen. Samsung wants to make alerts less crowded and more organized by fusing user customization choices with Galaxy AI's sophisticated filtering. Early next year, the upgrade is expected to be released alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
A leak of Samsung One UI 8.5 reveals a new feature called Priority Notifications
With its next One UI 8.5 update, Samsung plans to introduce Priority alerts, a new feature that will make alerts on Galaxy devices more intelligent and well-organized. People at SammyFans were the first to see the feature running in a new leaked release after it first surfaced in leaked firmware last week but wasn't operational at the time. This provides us with a clear view of how the feature will look and function.According to reports, Priority messages will employ Galaxy AI to automatically recognize potentially significant warnings and prioritize them above other messages. "Notifications that may be important will appear above other notifications to ensure you don't miss them," the feature description states. Additionally, users will probably be able to limit what is emphasized by selecting which applications are allowed to deliver high-priority notifications.
Priority Notifications would be shown at the very top of the notification panel, apart from standard alerts, according to leaked screenshots that were published by X (previously Twitter) Sandeep Adap (@SandeepAdap). They stand out thanks to their subtle glow effect and Galaxy AI-style gradient appearance. Crucially, Samsung states that all notification processing will take place on the device itself, protecting privacy and avoiding the transmission of data to cloud services.

Similar solutions are provided by Google and Apple, such as Google's Priority Conversations on Pixel smartphones and Apple's Priority Notifications in iOS 18.4, but Samsung's strategy combines automation and human input for more flexibility.
The One UI 8.5 beta test may start in late November, according to prior sources, though Samsung has not formally confirmed the launch. That timetable, though, could have been postponed. Priority Notifications will probably be made available to Galaxy users globally when the stable version of One UI 8.5 makes its public debut early next year alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
