According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a new feature for its Android app that adds new filters to make finding content easier. A feature tracker claims that a portion of users will be able to evaluate their shared photographs and videos in a chat with new filter choices thanks to the revised UI of the Meta-owned instant messaging service. Additionally, it allegedly enables them to filter stickers for quicker retrieval and search.
WhatsApp's new media filters
The new filter options were found in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.31.10, according to feature tracker WABetaInfo. Even though this update is said to be compatible, some users might be able to test it out by downloading an earlier version. It may be being developed for release in a later version of the app by the instant messaging client owned by Meta Platforms.
The Media, Links, and Documents part of the chat info page has been changed, according to the screenshot given by the feature tracker above. According to the feature tracker, additional filters have been added to make content discovery easier, even though it still shows a summary of all the shared information in a discussion.
According to reports, users may choose from the Photos, Videos, Documents, and Links tabs—which are now shown as separate filter chips rather than tabs. To assist WhatsApp users in finding stickers shared in the chosen chat, there is an additional Stickers filter next to them. According to the feature tracker, this option will let users find particular things among a variety of media genres and provide them more exact control over content discovery.
According to WABetaInfo, only beta testers who have enrolled through the Google Play Beta program will have access to the additional filter options, which are still being developed. Even after receiving the most recent WhatsApp for Android Beta version, these capabilities often roll out gradually, so not all users will notice them immediately. In the upcoming weeks, it may be made available to a larger public for testing.
