One of the films was already dropped from Marvel's annual schedule.
Originally intended to be a film, Marvel Zombies was turned into a series with Disney+'s support.
Director Bryan Andrews said that he had originally intended to produce a movie about the four-part miniseries before its September 24 release.
"We were going to make it a movie and have it released," he stated in a Variety interview.
However, because of certain "contractual issues due to Spider-Man involvement in it," the project was canceled fairly early on.
"I told the publication," Andrews said. "We intended to turn it into a film and release it. It should be huge and last for two to two and a half hours. It will be incredible. However, because Spider-Man was involved, there were contractual problems.
As a result of all the obstacles, the creators decided to develop a miniseries instead of a movie.
With the July 2025 release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the MCU has reached phase six.
A number of other major motion pictures are also planned for release during this time, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
