Fans expecting Eddie Munson's spectacular comeback in Stranger Things season 5 may be disappointed.
In a recent interview with Empire, the Duffer brothers stated that Joseph Quinn will not reprise his role in the Netflix hit's final season.
"I adore how Joe Quinn is playing with folks! "But no, he's dead," Matt Duffer remarked. "Joe is so busy that everyone should know he won't be returning. He's made about five movies since then! When the heck does he have time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, unfortunately, RIP. "He's completely under that ground."
Eddie, a fan favorite introduced in season four, was killed off after valiantly diverting the Demobats in the Upside Down so his comrades could fight Vecna.
Since then, Quinn has worked on big projects such as Hoard, A Quiet Place: Day One, Gladiator II, Warfare, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Eddie will not return, but many familiar people will. Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Priah Ferguson, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, and Brett Gelman have all confirmed their return.
The Duffers also hinted at Linda Hamilton's appearance as Dr. Kay, a federal agent targeting Eleven. "She's hyper-intelligent and intimidating," Matt explained. "She's a scientist but if she needs to, she can get into a fight and shoot a gun."
Season 5 will be released in three parts: Volume 1 on November 26, Volume 2 on Christmas, and The Finale on New Year's Eve.
