MTV announced on Thursday that Katy Perry will receive the Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 Video Music Awards.
The Woman's World hitmaker will also sing "a show-stopping, career-spanning medley of her biggest hits," according to a press release, with previously confirmed musicians Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, and Rauw Alejandro.
Katy Perry joins other A-list singers who have earned the lifetime achievement award, including Shakira, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake.
Perry's triumph will mark her first comeback to the awards program since 2017, when she both hosted and performed.
The music diva has won five VMAs since her debut in 2008, including video of the year for Firework in 2011.
"Katy is a musical force and a great pop culture star. "With her game-changing creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and taken over the world's biggest stages," Paramount CEO Bruce Gillmer exclaimed in a statement, according to Page Six.
"Katy's prowess will be on full display live on the VMAs with a can't-miss, career-encompassing performance celebrating her biggest moments and chart-topping hits," says Gillmer.
