Liam Payne was set to surprise One Direction fans with a much-anticipated reunion, but he sadly died before the unveiling.
Three months after his death, Kate Cassidy, the Teardrops singer's fiancée, broke her silence in her first interview since Payne died on October 16 at the age of 31.
During an interview with The Sun, the US influencer stated that the late singer was secretly exploring a One Direction reunion because the History singer "loved them so much, and was so proud of the boys."
Notably, at the time of his death, Payne was in Argentina to accompany his former bandmate, Niall Horan, on tour.
The late singer planned to reunite one of the best-selling boybands of all time, which separated ten years ago.
"One Direction was such an important part of his life. He would have been more than delighted to do that in the future," the late singer's distraught girlfriend told the magazine, referring to Payne's plans to rejoin with Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Horan.
Why did One Direction break up?
One Direction split up for a variety of reasons, including five years of weariness from overwork and overexposure, tremendous celebrity, pressure, and a desire to pursue separate careers.
When did One Direction split?
Zayn, now 32, quit the band for the first time in March 2015 on its Asia Road Again Tour. Following the tour, the boyband declared an indefinite sabbatical in 2016, and the lads finally broke up.
