Conan O'Brien has spoke candidly about his last year and its struggles.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, the program host revealed rare insights about how his turbulent year affected him.
Recalling how he reacted to his father's death, he said, "We dropped everything. I jumped in a vehicle, took a couple of flights back to Boston, and arrived."
It is worth noting that Conan's father died in November while filming Conan O'Brien Must Go in Austria.
In addition, Conan lost his mother, and with several business commitments, including hosting the Academy Awards and filming a trip series in six months, he had little time to absorb his loss.
"My mother died two days after she arrived. And so it was a really intense, unusual period, with a double funeral, and everything was chaotic and difficult to understand," he said.
"Dislocated from my house and we're working on the Oscars," he said, referring to his relocation during the Los Angeles wildfires. "I'm staying in a hotel. Craziness."
"Because of all this things that had happened before and because I was sort of running on fumes, I guess I was sillier over those three days," he recalled, and finished out from the melancholy discussion by saying, "I was extra crazy goofy and free-associating like someone on drugs... "I was in a fugue state."
