Jackie Chan, a seasoned Hong Kong actor, returns to the big screen to reprise his memorable role as Mr Han in Karate Kid: Legends.
The plot follows Han as he tutors his nephew, Li (Ben Wang), who relocates from China to New York City. After a confrontation with a school bully, Li enters the Five Borough Tournament. Han then moves to New York to study in martial arts, while Danny LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) comes from California to teach him karate.
According to Variety, the Rush Hour actor, who has been acting since 1960 and is well-known for his combat choreography, disclosed some vital information he gave to Wang about stunt performances.
"I said, 'Ben, we have a double for you, but you should do your own thing," Chan told the site. "The audience appreciates you more. "When you use a double, you get lazy."
The Drunken Master star also stated that, with 64 years of expertise, he did not require any training for the new film, and while he takes satisfaction in completing his own stunts, he also admitted that aging has slowed him down.
"I'm not like I used to be when I was 20, and could do a triple kick in the sky," he giggled. "Now I do one kick but it's still me."
In contrast, the 25-year-old Wang had a difficult training session. "I got a systematic a**-kicking," he said.
Wang revealed his hard regimen, saying, "It was five days of formal training, from morning to night, and I trained by myself on the weekend."
He stated that the crew has only 90 days to get him in fighting form for his scenes with Chan.
The Karate Kid: Legends was released on May 30.
