Jamie Foxx is talking about how his daughter, Corinne Foxx, helped him recover emotionally following a health crisis in 2023.
Speaking at Netflix's FYSEE LA event on May 29, the 57-year-old actor reflected about his scary 2023 medical emergency, which involved a brain bleed that led to a stroke while filming Back in Action.
Jamie Foxx's new comedy special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was..., which is currently available on Netflix, delves into the event and his rehabilitation journey.
During the occasion, Jamie experienced a meaningful moment with Corinne, 31, who joined him on stage for a Q&A session packed with laughter, memories, and emotional gratitude.
Jamie looked to his daughter and said, "I said one day I'd stop sobbing. But I have a feeling I'll never stop sobbing since you were so amazing.
He also commended her courage and support at a difficult period in his life.
"I'm glad God gave me an opportunity to get back so I could see what you're going to do because you're going to shock the world," he added. He continued: "She's always been grounded" since she "held me down" during the ordeal.
The Strays singer recalled meeting the medical team at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, where he was treated, as incredibly moving—especially given that he had been drugged for much of his stay.
Seeing the folks who helped save his life made the event much more intense.
One incident jumped out in particular. Jamie remembered a nurse telling him how unusual his recovery was.
"She said, 'Because less than 3% of individuals who come in with what you have leave here. We normally place them in a box. But when I realized it was you, I pulled my sleeves up. That's Jamie Fox in there."
Now that he's back on his feet, Jamie is not only speaking his tale, but also praising the people who helped him get through it, particularly his daughter, who was there for him every step of the way.
