Tom Cruise has added another daring accomplishment to his reputation, this time setting a Guinness World Record while filming Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.
The prize came after Cruise did 16 parachute jumps with the canopy deliberately put on fire, all while filming a high-stakes aircraft scenario for what is being billed as his final mission as Ethan Hunt.
Paramount has released a new behind-the-scenes footage, which shows the extraordinary preparation and execution that went into the spectacular stunt.
Before one of the leaps, Cruise is heard explaining the perilous setup: "If this gets twisted while it's burning, I'll be spinning and burned. I need to kick out of the twist and ignite in 10 seconds."
He went on to say, "We're going to be really clever. I'm not suggesting you should take risks. We don't take chances, certainly."
While addressing at Cannes, he simply stated, "I'd prefer people see it and enjoy it, and we've had a great time doing it; it's been a lot of fun, and I just want you all to enjoy it. Enjoy it, and realize that everything has led up to this moment.
The picture released over Memorial Day weekend and has already made $360 million worldwide. It debuted with a whopping $200 million, setting a new record for the Mission: Impossible franchise.
