David Corenswet has exclusively discussed his portrayal of Superman in the next James Gunn film.
The actor will portray both Clark Kent and his Kryptonian alter ego.
During his speech at the red carpet event in London's Leicester Square, David discussed his experience playing the part.
The 31-year-old stated that he attempted to create his "own" identity.
He told the PA News agency: "I wish I could just give the great performances that have come before, but I couldn't help but do my own thing."
According to Corenswet, the figure contains so much affection and history that he wished to preserve.
He spoke: "So that sort of came for free, and I just had the great opportunity to maybe explore some different forms of the character and hopefully bring him to a new generation who maybe haven't had their first Superman experience."
The all-new Superman film will star David alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Milly Alcock, and others.
The action sci-fi film, produced by Warner Bros., is set to be released on July 11.
