On Thursday, Dolby announced the debut of India's first Dolby Cinema. The country's first Dolby Cinema, located in the City Pride multiplex in Kharadi, Pune, has Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technology. Jurassic World Rebirth will be the first film to be shown in the 310-seat auditorium, which has a curved wall-to-wall-to-ceiling screen. Dolby has earlier stated that it will open five more Dolby Cinemas in the nation in the coming months.
Dolby Cinema features a 60-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos
The San Francisco-based audio and imaging technology business has announced the opening of India's first Dolby Cinema in Pune. The auditorium is meant to show both 2D and 3D movies and is outfitted with a Dolby Vision dual 4K laser projection system and Dolby Atmos.
Dolby Cinema is a premium large format movie theater experience that features Dolby's high dynamic range (HDR) image technology, Dolby Vision, and its object-based three-dimensional sound design technology, Dolby Atmos. For an immersive experience, the cinema has a curving "wall-to-wall-to-ceiling" screen, room acoustic treatment, and reclining seating with unimpeded sight lines and minimal ambient lighting.
The auditorium will open to the public on Friday, with Jurassic World Rebirth as the first film to be shown. The firm has teamed with BookMyShow to offer online ticket booking. In the next days, Dolby Cinemas will provide exclusive previews and exclusive deals to moviegoers.
"The opening of Dolby Cinema in Pune is a significant milestone in our long-term strategy for India... "We have thoughtfully designed the entire cinema down to the last detail," stated Michael Archer, Vice President of Worldwide theater Sales and Partner Management at Dolby Laboratories.
So far, India has over 1,000 Dolby Atmos-equipped movie theaters. However, the new auditorium in Pune is the first in the country to use a Dolby Vision screen. The business also intends to open five additional Dolby Cinema screens in the country, in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi, and Uikkal.
