Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 6a Battery Performance Programme. To minimize battery overheating, the firm will implement a forced upgrade to Android 16 for all Pixel 6a devices. While it was previously known that qualified consumers may receive free repairs at authorized service facilities, we now know how much the tech giant will compensate individuals turning in their Pixel 6a for a newer model.
Google Pixel 6a trade-in under the Battery Performance Programme
Google's Battery Performance Programme offers Pixel 6a customers a free battery replacement with no additional service fee. Those who do not willing to do so have alternative assistance choices, such as gadget trade-ins. This qualifies them for a cash reward or store credit, depending on their desire.
The business would pay affected Pixel 6a customers $100 (approximately Rs. 8,500) or the equivalent amount in their local currency in cash. Alternatively, users may use a Google Store discount voucher worth $150 (about Rs. 12,800) towards their future Pixel device purchase.
However, the ultimate sum will be determined by the daily exchange rate at the time of conversion, according to Google. Furthermore, the availability of local currency for cash payments might fluctuate.
To handle payments, the tech behemoth will utilize a third-party payment platform called Payoneer, and the provider may request personal information such as a Social Security number in the United States or comparable identification in other countries, in accordance with banking rules.
Google has launched a portal where Pixel 6a owners may verify their phones' eligibility. They must input their linked email address as well as the device's IMEI number. You may also use an email address that is not associated with the Pixel 6a if you are filling out the form on behalf of a family member or friend. However, the business stated that it "may need to ask you for more information".
If qualified, Pixel 6a owners will be able to submit their repair or trade-in claim.
