With a third-generation 1.5K BOE Flexible Oriental OLED display that refreshes at 165 Hz, the OnePlus 15 is expected to ship next week. This display's resolution is lower than that of the OnePlus 13's 2K panel. An official from OnePlus China has revealed why the OnePlus 15 will have a lower resolution screen. The phone is scheduled to arrive in China on October 27. The business attributes the high refresh rate and resolution combination to technological constraints. The CEO also provided a number of arguments for why the OnePlus 15's display will be superior than that of its predecessor.
Because of technical constraints, the OnePlus 15 will not have a 165Hz 2K OLED screen
Li Jie Louis, the president of OnePlus China, gave an explanation of why the OnePlus 15 would not have a 2K display in a Weibo post. According to the executive, the business was prioritizing a 165Hz display, and it was challenging to accomplish the 2K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate combo because of specific constraints in luminous materials and circuit technology.
The CEO also mentioned that 1080p used to be the maximum resolution available on televisions with a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The OnePlus 15 will be able to deliver a high refresh rate without sacrificing resolution since the third-generation BOE Flexible Oriental OLED panel is the first to enable a 165Hz refresh rate on a 1.5K display.
The executive added, however, that financial concerns had no bearing on the choice. According to him, the OnePlus 15's display is more expensive than the 2K resolution screen on the OnePlus 13. In order to achieve a refresh rate of 165 Hz, he highlighted five technological obstacles, such as the charging time of a single row of pixels, the inability to overcome the computational capacity of screen processors, problems with touch-display feedback synchronization, and screen longevity concerns.
A unique X3 bright material helped the firm overcome these obstacles. Additionally, the screen chip and circuit were changed. According to the executive, the OnePlus 15 screen would have a refresh rate of 165 Hz, better display quality, 1.15mm "ultra-narrow" bezels, greater eye protection, and 1 nit brightness support.
As previously stated, on October 27, the OnePlus 15 will make its debut in China. Qualcomm's most recent Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor will power the phone. A 7,300mAh Glacier battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless rapid charging capabilities will be included. With a 50-megapixel Sony primary shooter camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, the flagship is confirmed to include a triple-rear camera set.
