As Pitt loved driving and filming actual Formula 1 races, Kosinski's reflections on the last days of filming during his presence at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles for the film's showing showed that the actor was extremely unhappy with the film's completion.
At the end of the last take, Konsinski and his crew let Pitt to "do a few more laps just because I knew he loved it," he recalled. He truly enjoyed portraying this character, therefore I believe it was heartbreaking for him to say goodbye.
But the Oblivion director hinted that Pitt may reprise his role as Sonny in the future.
"would love to see what adventures Sonny Hayes is going on to next, and I think the audience would too," he stated. "So we're actually gonna start talking about that very soon, start kind of coming up with, 'What could that next chapter of his story be?'"
