George and Amal Clooney's marriage might end if the human rights lawyer is barred from entering the United States.
For the past several months, there have been whispers about George and Amal's divorce. According to sources, the couple, who reside in Europe, were at odds because the actor had to stay in New York City for work on a Broadway musical.
While Amal and the kids accompanied him for the performance of his play, George allegedly wants to do more performances and remain longer. Amal, on the other hand, has enterprises in Europe and hopes to return.
Now, her cooperation with the International Criminal Court probing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's war crimes against Palestinians may result in her being sanctioned by President Donald Trump.
"It is a disaster. Everyone is anticipating that it will be the final straw in their marriage," an insider told Radar Online.
Now that the Ocean's Eleven star has been nominated for a Tony Award for his part in the Broadway production Good Night, and Good Luck, he intends to stay in New York for much longer.
According to the insider, Amal's employment as a human rights lawyer sometimes compels her to go outside the nation. And if his wife is prevented from entering by the president's proclamation, he'll have to abandon those plans or spend a long period apart.
"If Amal's barred from reentering the States, she'll have to spend 100 percent of her time abroad and that's not going to work for George - who won't shelve his Hollywood or potential political career ambitions," a source told me.
"This might be the end for them. "Their marriage is now literally hanging by a thread," the tipster cautioned.
George and Amal Clooney married in 2014 and had seven-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
